ART - with Mrs Connors
Creative!… Engaged!… Enthusiastic!
At LCS, our Art Room is a much loved space where children feel relaxed, confident, have a lot of fun and can open their mind’s to all things creative. Over their seven years of Primary education children are taught the skills for; drawing and design, painting, printing, collage, model making, construction and textiles / craft. Our students learn these skills through watching, listening, reading, sharing, copying and practicing. By building children’s art skills and knowledge each child becomes more and more independent and able to follow his and her own art passions, creating many, many wonderful artworks.
Our children’s artworks are regularly displayed throughout the school and are viewed with great pride by our students and families. At Lockington Consolidated School Art is a highly valued part of our curriculum which contributes much to our children’s growth and education. We all love Art!
Indonesian - with Ms Whelan
Students across the school learn Bahasa Indonesian weekly, developing language skills and building cultural awareness. Students are encouraged to be curious and have fun while they learn, to build their confidence and encourage engagement. LCS students enjoy learning in a variety of ways including singing, role-plays, meeting Indonesian people, incursions, cooking, art, dance, writing, reading, watching videos and online learning and games. Apart from being lots of fun, learning another language has many benefits such as:
Learning a language is great training for your brain
Language skills can open new doors for travel, work and communicating with others
Language learning really does support literacy!
Indonesian is very accessible – it uses the same alphabet as English and there are no tones
Indonesian is a form of Malay so you can communicate with around 250 million people.
P.E - with Mr Gray
Here at LCS, we aim to teach both health knowledge and movement skills through games and activities. Our priority, is to learn all of this, in a FUN, SAFE and SUPPORTIVE environment. Students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self, and build and manage satisfying relationships. We also focus on the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies to enable students to confidently, competently and creatively participate in a range of physical activities, of course... while having fun!
